SAT DNC RBC MTG

Its finally here! The end is in sight! On Saturday, the Democratic Party Rules and Bylaws Committee meets to decide the fate of MI/FL delegations to the convention. Unless of course someone (she who shall not be named) appeals the decision to the Credentials Committee at the Convention in August.

From what I have read, it looks like there will definitely NOT be a full delegation being approved from either state. The DNC lawyers penned a memo saying that the committee has to at least cut the size of the delegation in half. Now, it remains to be seen whether or not the committee will give either state any delegates at all. If they do allow some representation (my guess is they will), the question is on what do they base the allocation of delegates. You can look at MI and FL in different ways because Obama’s name was NOT on the MI ballot at all, while it was on the FL ballot.

If I had my way, I wouldn’t seat any of them at all. But, this is politics. At this point, if you cut FL in half and base it on the vote that occurred in January, Hillary only nets about 19 delegates over Obama. If I were him, I’d say fine. Not a big deal. MI should be cut in half and split 50/50 though.   Hillary’s campaign says Obama should receive no delegates. (Do these people have any intellectual honesty or integrity left? They should feel shamed) That is not going to happen. He’s got to receive at least all the uncommitted delegates, at minimum, and the proposal put forward by the MI people says to compromise between that and the 50/50 idea. Again, if I were him, I’d take it. Why not? Its a net gain of 8 or something for HIllary. Doesn’t impede his campaign at all. Plus it basically invalidates the MI popular vote. MI and FL were the only states who did not have record turnout this year. Hmmmm. That should tell you something.

I hope that whatever decision comes out of this meeting, that both campaigns accept it. If Hillary starts up some big hoo-hah about it, I’ll go crazy. She has to accept the decision or be vilified within the party for the rest of her career, that’s how I see it. Then again, she may actually have gone insane already so who knows. I believe you can tune in to the meeting which takes place Saturday morning and probably throughout the day.
