Just One Reason Obama Inspires People–He’s Back baby!

Published by Gus under Primary Campaign 08

This video is about 5 minutes and I urge you to watch it in its entirety. Its a speech he made today that you haven’t heard before. Its a speech that speaks directly to what is so powerful and exciting about Obama and shows he’s got what it takes to get beyond all the bickering and negativity associated with politics in this country and really bring people together to solve some long festering and pressing problems. Its a speech that demonstrates why so many are so inspired by him.

Obama’s Pastor

Published by Gus under Primary Campaign 08

Check out this story (if you haven’t heard about it already) about Jared Wright, Obama’s former Pastor of the church he has attended for years. And Obama’s response here or here:

Here’s my question: How is it possibly fair to attribute to Obama the remarks of his former pastor? I don’t believe it is fair at all. Its one thing if the person is a paid member or spokesman of your campaign and is speaking for you. But something said by someone’s pastor in a few sermons? No. Completely unfair to attribute those same beliefs to Obama. I attend church and don’t always agree with what my pastor says. Just because you go to a church does not mean you agree with every single principle or tenant or speech that you read or hear at that church. This story is being blown way out of proportion and I could point to comments by supporters of almost every candidate that don’t match with their own beliefs.

Obama Releases complete list of Budget Earmarks

Published by Gus under Primary Campaign 08

What do you think of the budget process of Congressmen earmarking funds for specific projects in their states or districts? Should the practice be banned entirely?

Obama has now released his full list of earmarks which you can see here.

Hillary has NOT and apparently will not release all her past earmarks. Shocking as that is. Another example of her secrecy and unwillingness to be transparent.

I believe that banning all earmarks is impractical and not necessary. I think what the Democratic Congress did this year in making all earmarks transparent and available to the public to see who asked for what is the best way to manage the earmarking process. Congressmen do fund practical and necessary projects in their own states and districts that are important. If John McCain thinks, as he seems to, that ALL earmarks are pork, bad and a waste of money, I just don’t think that’s accurate.  You can point to many good programs and projects that were funded through earmarks.
